Another incredible performance from Taraji P. Henson, who carried the emotional weight of trauma with such honesty and intensity. It was also great to see Teyana Taylor alongside her — the two shared a raw, unfiltered dynamic that grounded the story even more.
From the opening scenes, I felt the heaviness. The pacing, the silence, even the set design — everything felt intentional. You’re not just watching the characters go through pain; you're in it with them.
From a producer’s lens, it’s clear this wasn’t a big-budget film — likely under $20M — but what it lacked in scale, it made up for in emotional depth and performance power. It reminded me how strong casting, tight writing, and stripped-back visuals can still leave a lasting impact.
This isn’t an easy watch, but it’s an important one — the kind of film that lingers long after the credits roll.
In the first week of June, it was viewed over 25 million times and clocked over 45 million hours of viewing, according to Netflix.
